While we want to give ourselves to the work of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20) and reaching the nations with the the good news of the gospel, we also want to be intentional in reaching all generations with that same good news (Psalm 145:4).
Discipling the young children and youth in our body is, therefore, incredibly important in the church. Further, the Scriptures make it clear (e.g. Deuteronomy 6:4–7; Ephesians 6:1–4) that it is the primary responsibility of parents, as stewards of God, to disciple their own children to know, trust, honor, love, and obey Christ.
In light of this, we’ve made the following opportunities available to parents and their children as we attempt to partner with them in shepherding their hearts to Jesus.
Newborn–
2nd Grade
Newborns–2nd graders are a part of our 2PC Kids ministry.
SUNDAY MORNINGS
For children 2nd grade and younger, we offer our 2PC Kids ministry on most Sunday mornings. 2PC Kids is broken down into three separate classrooms:
2PC Kids: Nursery
2PC Kids: Pre-K
2PC Kids: K–2nd Grade
While our 2PC Kids classrooms offer age-specific instruction and activities (based upon age-appropriate curriculum from The Gospel Project), children of all ages are always welcome to join us in the main worship gathering in the sanctuary each Sunday.
At the end of each school year we celebrate “Moving Up Sunday,” during which we welcome our outgoing 2nd graders into our main worship gathering in the sanctuary.
3rd–5th Grade
3rd–5th graders are a part of our 2PC Kids ministry.
SUNDAY MORNINGS
On Sundays, 3rd–5th graders join as a part of our main worship gathering. We value the opportunity these children have to sit under the preaching of God’s word, witness the weekly observance of the Lord’s Supper, and see their parent(s), other adults, and other children worshipping together through our gospel liturgy.
Monthly Classroom Gathering
Each month (typically the second Sunday of the month), September through May, 2PC Kids: 3rd–5th Grade gathers before our worship gathering (9:00am) in a classroom setting. During their time together, the children discuss sermons and sermon texts from the previous month and work to better understand and apply them to their own lives.
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
Each month (typically the fourth Sunday of the month), 2PC Kids: 3rd–5th Grade also gathers in the afternoon/evening to have fun, play games, make crafts, etc. This time is intended to help foster a growing and deepening sense of community among the children.
NEWS & UPDATES
Parents of 3rd–5th graders are encouraged to join the 2PC Kids: 3rd–5th Grade group on Church Center for the latest information about relevant events and activities.
6th–12th Grade
6th–12th graders are a part of our 2PC Youth ministry.
SUNDAY MORNINGS
Like 3rd–5th graders, youth also gather once per month, September through May, on the second Sunday of each month in a classroom setting to discuss sermon texts from the previous month. The aim is to foster a better understanding of these texts and apply them to their own lives.
WEEKLY YOUTH GROUP GATHERINGS
2PC Youth meets at the church building on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00pm. These weekly gatherings have both a Bible teaching (based upon age-appropriate curriculum from The Gospel Project) and a relational component, helping middle school and high school students to develop theological conviction, pursue Christlikeness, cultivate gospel-friendships, and mature in their faith together.
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
We work to coordinate 2PC Youth attendance at summer camps and local youth conferences (e.g. LNK Youth Conference) as opportunities become available.
NEWS & UPDATES
Parents of 6th–12th graders are encouraged to join the 2PC Youth group on Church Center for the latest information about relevant events and activities.
